Bring on the Color

Fall is finally here. It is a short but brilliant season as most years, by the time Halloween rolls around, the trees have bared themselves in order to make way for the winter snow.

While every season in Tahoe has something to offer, it is the fall that I find the most peaceful and relaxing. The crowds have gone leaving our streets clear of traffic, and the restaurants and beaches are left uncrowded. The temperature has cooled to the point where the scent of wood fire fills the air, and the only sound you find when walking along the beach or in the forest is the sound of your own breath.

I have a huge maple in my front yard and one of my favorite things to do at this time of year is to buy pumpkins as soon as they show up in the store and display them in my wagon under the tree. There is just something about pumpkins and fall leaves that leaves me feeling happy and content inside.

It is for these quiet moments when I am alone with nature that I long for during the hot and busy days of summer. But I know the beauty of fall is fleeting, and it won’t be long until winter wraps us in months and months of snow. So I cherish every moment granted me until they cycle continues and the beauty of fall circles around once again.

I enjoy the cooler weather and Halloween. Halloween is our anniversary and we love to take the kids trick or treating. It’s also nice to visit all the walking trails around here.

Here in Anchorage, one can see the changes on a daily basis. Absolutely entrancing! And watching the wildlife and birds enact their winter prep rituals is a gift to me.

Being a menopausal woman, fall is my type of season. I find the cooler temperatures right up my alley. With the air have a cool snap and the leafs changing color and the smell of pumpkin spice everywhere it is wonderful.

Fall brings out the pixies with their paint brushes to color the leaves. My grandmother always told me that was how the leaves turned from green to the bright reds, golds and oranges. It’s a wonderful remembrance of her.

I really love the bright blue sky (when it shows up) that seems more intense than in the other seasons. Of course, the beautiful colors of the leaves & the still warm days with cool, crisp nights. Only thing I don’t like is the winter that follows.

I love fall but you know I didn’t really enjoy it that much in Ca I lived in the bay area and in downtown San Mateo and you really can’t tell the change not like living here in Iowa. I love the leaves, deer running, stray cats having babies, the smell of the air, the farmers cutting their corn and also farmers market is so neat during the fall. Plus we have all these holidays that I enjoy as they don;t involve family like the 2 big ones coming I don;t live near my family and i miss them so much but it is almost impossible for me to get there unless we rent a car and that is so much so the family holidays make me just so upset. I do decorate but my heart is there !

  18. MaryAnn Forbes says:
